Sanjita Chanu Wiki, Age, Weight, Height, Game Records, Family & Biography: Sanjita Chanu is an Indian weightlifter who born on 2 January 1994  at Manipur. She won two gold medal in Commonwealth Games in Weightlifting Game. She won the first gold medal in the women’s 48 kg weight class at the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow and second in 2018 Commonwealth Games by clinching the gold in the 53kg category. The real name of Sanjita is Khumukcham Sanjita Chanu and she belongs from a state of North-East India (Manipur). She started her sports career in 2006. She participated in the sport of weightlifting in 2006 in Manipur. Kunjarani Devi is her hero and she was also a Manipuri. She born on 2 January 1994 (age 24) at Manipur, India.

Age, Weight & Physical Appearance-

Age of Sanjita Chanu is 24 years old.  The current weight is 53 Kgs (116 lbs). She has an athletic body structure and has a height of 150 cm (4’9″). She is very fit and strong as she can lift 4 times more weight of her own. In 2014 she had a weight of 48 kgs and she lifted 173 kg (77+96). She is a strong woman and a youth icon of north-east people.

Sanjita Chanu Sports Career-

She started her sport of weightlifting in 2006 in Manipur. She won her first gold medal in women’s 48kg weightlifting to 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow and after that, she qualified for the 2016 Olympics but didn’t win any medals.  After the Olympics, she started working hard and won the Gold medal by lifting a world record total of 194 KG in total (85 KG Snatch and 105 KG clean and Jerk) in 2017 in World Weightlifting Championship was held at Anaheim, CA, USA. 

And few days before she won another gold for India in 2018 Commonwealth Games by clinching the gold in the 53kg category by lifting a total of 192 kg which included a Commonwealth Games record of 84 kg in the snatch and 108 kg in clean and jerk

 

Family & Background-

Sanjita Chanu brought up in Imphal East of Manipur District in India and she follows Manipuri sports woman Kunjarani Devi. She belongs from North-east family and fathers and mothers details are not available on the Internet.
